This clearly written and well-organized book provides a balance of etiology, prevalence, medical diagnosis, health care concerns, and practical ideas needed by teachers who serve students with special needs. Whether the students disability is a degenerative disease, muscular dystrophy, AIDS, or a hearing impairment, the authors present all the facts and information that teachers (or potential teachers) need to plan and administer an appropriate education. The book addresses a wide variety of conditions, and provides an overview of physical disabilities, multiple disabilities, health impairments, and medical management needs.
