The Wise Child: A Spiritual Guide to Nurturing Your Child's Intuition this question feed

Sonia Choquette is an internationally acclaimed spiritual teacher who has taught individuals as well as corporate staff members to claim and understand their intuitive and creative potential. (Julia Cameron, author of The Artist's Way, considers Choquette her personal mentor and teacher.) Over the years, students have often asked Choquette how they can foster their children's innate intuition and creativity. This book is a welcome answer to this parental quest.

Choquette has divided this outstanding resource into three sections--each part representing the three stages of nurturing intuition. The first section teaches parents how they can awaken and commit to their own intuition, spirituality, and creativity. The second stage focuses specifically on "Embracing Intuition." Choquette discusses energy fields, children's auras (and the need for after-school aura cleansing), and fostering children's imaginations and inner guidance systems. Lastly, Choquette offers parents specific tools for gaining support from spiritual guides, teachers, healers, and helpers. Parents who long to discuss and learn more about raising spiritual beings will be greatly satisfied with this intelligent and altogether wise family resource. --Gail Hudson

At first I thought this book would be too "fruity" for me. I am not particularly New Age, and the talk of aura cleansing and energy fields was a little offputting to me. But I decided to give it a try anyway. My daughter, who is almost 3, has an almost eerie insight into the way others in our family are feeling, and I wanted to explore and nurture this facet of her personality. I am glad I did. I have reread this book several times now (something I rarely do) and the exercises at the end of each chapter have led me to do a lot of personal reflection on the way I was raised and the way that in turn affects my relationships with my children. I feel that as a result of those reflections I am not only nurturing my daughter's intuition but I am closer emotionally to her, and a better parent to her, as a result. Pick up a copy and give it a read; you may be surprised at what happens in your family.

Whether your wise one is your son/daughter or the inner child within, The Wise Child is a simple yet deeply empathic strategy to honor a young ones' inner knowing. Rather than ignore the natural and healthy wisdom in young children, this book trains families how to work the six-sensory flow. Not only do the techniques allow grounded guidance for nurturing a "psychic child" but encourages a warm dynamic within a family that embraces intuitive living. Often very sensitive children are prone to insecurity and ostracism when their intuitive gifts are ignored. Rather than focus on differences, Choquette's advice concentrates on how these inherent "third eye" gifts are to be incorporated in raising emotionally healthy, well-adjusted, centered human beings living up to their full potential by accessing both their intellect and intuition.

I highly recommend this book for adults who did not have the advantage of growing up in a family that recognized the intuitive spirit. If you had to shut down your third eye at a young age due to misunderstanding ... this is an excellent tool to "re-parent" those sides of you. Not only does this heal and nurture a re-awakening psychic channel but it also helps connect someone with their own spiritual self. This is an excellent workbook for "recovering" six-sensory beings coming out of the psychic closet and anyone who was "trained out" of their right brain at an early age. Overall, The Wise Child is a wonderful program for intuitive development, especially when combined with modalities (meditation, yoga, tai chi, etc) designed to develop a clearer sense of consciousness.

The author has written such a beautiful book - filled with information, tools, reflections, and "exercises" -sure to help you (and your child) expand your awareness of intuition as well as how to embrace and share those "gut feelings". My favorite tool in this book was learning how when I'm apart from loved ones, I can imagine a protective light surrounding them, that keeps them safe and sends them my love. This book is truly a powerful, nurturing guide. Enjoy!

This book has truly changed the way I am interacting with my children. I originally bought it because people have told me my second son (of three) is extremely intuitive and I should learn some special techniques to use with him; however, what I love most about this book is that it applies to ALL CHILDREN and will help any caring parent create a more loving environment for their family. And, I have read it twice already (something I rarely do...) I have pages marked, paragraphs underlined, and notes in the margins. I even made a "cheat sheet" to hang on the fridge for quick reference. I was going to loan it to a friend but I don't want to let go of my copy, which is why I am on this site; I am ordering it for three friends!!! This book is worth every penny and more. Read it!
