As an accomplished doctor of veterinary medicine, Martin Goldstein is well respected for his 25 years worth of experience in the field--experience he effectively utilizes in conjunction with his expertise in holistic medicine in his new book, The Nature of Animal Healing: The Path to Your Pet's Health, Happiness, and Longevity. Goldstein begins with a broad explanation of the origins of diseases in pets, then moves on to taking action against those diseases, not only offering thorough discussions of specific ailments--including cancer, allergies, and arthritis--and the holistic medicines available to help in the healing process, but also speaking to the "dubious legacy of vaccines" as well as the questionable quality of pet food. Finally, Goldstein turns his attention to the spiritual realm, addressing both the bonds that we have with our pets--and how those bonds aid in preventing and fighting our pets' health problems--as well as dealing with the death of a beloved pet. Goldstein's expert advice, inclusion of inspiring real-life cases, and thorough resource "compendium of holistic books, newsletters, Web sites, veterinarians, and associations" make this book a valuable addition to any pet owner's library. --Julia King

excellent book for learning more about your pets and their nutrition and how to help them be healthy w/o a lot of allopathic intervention which sometimes does more to hurt than to help.

I have several books on natural healing and feeding of our pets. I started with an adopted puppy that was not doing well on any of the better commercial brands. This book has reinforced that I am doing the right things, and sadly I could have done more for my beloveds that I had before him. I am making sure that everyone in my family has a copy, as well as our veterinarians. If my current vet isn't willing to work with me, I will find another.

This was my introduction of sorts to the blessings of natural/holistic animal care and it has been an indespensible resource. I've given it as gifts to 6 different people, 3 of whom are veterinarians!

The book is easy to read and comprehend, treatments simple.

This and Dr. Pitcairn's book are must haves!

After losing to animals to cancer, I came upon this book. I think it's a really helpful resource for pet owners who want to make more informed decisions about the health care of their pets. Not only does it discuss various ailments and remedies--including cancer--but it gives wonderful day-to-day guidance regarding food, water and other care topics. Lastly, it gives really compassionate guidance regarding the death of a pet. I wish I had found this book sooner.
