After his blockbuster success of Little Black Girl Lost, and Little Black Girl Lost II, Keith Lee Johnson returns with The Honeymoon Is Over. Two time divorcee, Nelson Kennard, has finally found the love of his life--so he thinks, but his fiancée, Parris Stalls, has found another lover. Parris, a drop dead gorgeous schoolteacher with a body to die for, has been patiently waiting for Nelson's ship to come in. But after four years of waiting, she began to listen to her friends who told her numerous times to leave Nelson and find a man with some money. In comes the very wealthy Shenandoah Armstrong who has a twenty year old score to settle with Nelson. The fireworks begin when Parris finds out that Nelson became the man she always hoped he'd become. She never loved Shenandoah and never stopped loving Nelson. He still loves Parris, but will he take her back after catching her in bed with Shenandoah? Or has he found another and moved on with his newly found riches?
Reviews
Tall (in appearance if not in statute), handsome and gifted, Nelson "Skywalker" Kennard appears to be every woman's dream come true. He falls hard for Parris Stalls who learns the hard way that she should listen less to her friends and more to her heart.
In Keith Lee Johnson's story of cross and double-cross, I sat on the edge of my seat as if strapped into a roller coaster car. With every page I turned, I felt if I would be thrown from this ride.
Nelson lost a promising NBA career in a foolish, careless moment. He then meets Parris, a woman who craves material things far more than the love of any man. She has no respect for his choice of jobs. Nelson decides to follow in his father's footsteps and chooses to run the family business: Kennard Janitorial Services.
To get back at Nelson, Parris takes up with a rival of his, Shenandoah
Armstrong. This proves to be a mistake that has dire consequences. She realizes her mistake when Nelson's company becomes extremely successful and he's now a very wealthy man. Both Nelson and Parris realize they are still very much in love with each other. They tear apart the lives of any and all they encounter until they reach the showdown that is deserved--but not expected.
This thriller has a host of characters that kept me turning page after page. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters that the author created. With each chapter, I hardly ever knew what to expect next. The climax of the story is one that will leave the reader wanting more. Yet, Keith Lee Johnson simply smiles as he writes "check" then "mate."
Armchair Interviews says: A thriller well worth your time.

I never had to write a negative review but this book was awful. It was too much going on that didn't make sense. Why was it title the Honeymoon is Over?

The title of the book and the synopsis given on the back has nothing to do with the overall story. In fact this book is not like any other urban fiction book I have ever read. It fits into the category of a murder mystery book. Anyhow, the book started off well. However, it fell apart in the middle and the end. There were so many parts that were unnecessary and so far fetch that it was very difficult for me to continue to read. This was the first book I have read by this author and I don't know if I could read another despite the other reviews which states this book was just bad and he does have good ones.

Keith my man what happened? I was looking forward to reading this novel and now that I have...what a disappointment. The entire book should have focused on Nelson, Parris and Shenandoah. Jamie, Rachel and Grace were a total waste of time and space. Sterling and Le'sett's (Fate's Redemption) appearance in the book was fun. The ending was like...is that it?

This is my very first book by Keith Lee Johnson and I must say that I was very disappointed. Not only was the book to fast but it was unrealistic the book started off very good I felt what Nelson was going through but then it just got crazy like when parris went to jail, and nelson got engaged and started plotting murder, and all of a sudden he was a father of a grown son it was just too much. I am going to try to give Mr.Johnson one more chance I hope he was just having a case of brain fart when he made this one.
