It's summer. It's hot. And it's time to hook up.Cousins Ella, Beth, and Jamie are at their family's beach house, and they're gearing up for the wildest time of their lives. Sassy Ella is majorly crushing on a cute older boy -- who just happens to be her sister's new boyfriend. Meanwhile, practical Beth is surprised when she finds herself falling for her best friend George. And shy, creative Jamie gets her heart broken when her summer love abandons her. Three girls, too many boys, and some seriously stormy romances...it all adds up to one unforgettable summer.

I read the book "Summer Boys" by Hailey Abbott for my freshman book project. I haven't read a whole book in a long time, but once I started I just couldn't put it down. I was finding myself reading at home, which I NEVER do. The book is about 3 cousins: Ella (the beautiful one, who can get any guy), Beth (the sporty one who doesn't care so much how she looks), and Jamie (the one whose falling so far into a relationship with Ethan, her summer love).

Ella sees this lead singer on stage at a party on the beach, she really likes what she sees. After the show he jumps in the water, and she can't seem to find him anywhere, so she just gives up. She goes to see where her sister is (Kelsi) and finds the singer right there, his name is Peter. Kelsi and Peter end up dating, and Ella can't help but want him, even though she was happy her sister was happy, but not with 'her man'. It all gets so twisted one night after Kelsi and Peter break up and Ella finds herself alone with Peter, does she betray her sister and hook up with Peter, or stay faithful and get out of the situation?..read the book.

Beth is suddenly liking George, her best friend. It all started one day at the beach when this girl 'Cara' thought he was cute. She started getting jealous of Cara, and wanted to tell George so badly her feelings. She thinks she's in love with him. George and Cara end up dating, and Beth just finds her feelings coming out, she cries, and she's trying so hard to improve her looks. One night on George's 17th birthday they go to the beach and have a bon fire, George has had a little too many beers and wants to go skinny dipping, he invites everyone but only he and Cara go. Beth hides his clothes, then after they have to run from the cops (because George is naked on a roof)..something happens between Beth and George, is it something good, or bad?..read the book.

Jamie is still crushing on her summer love. They have been talking since last summer and she has lost her big V to him. It starts out good, they are acting like always, but then Ethan says some stuff about they were never really 'a thing', and that he thinks they should just "be friends". This makes Jamie not only sad but angry, she doesn't know what to do and after that she doesn't even care anymore, she just sleeps, listens to music and is depressed. Ella helps Jamie break this depression and Ethan invites Jamie to his party. She goes and Ella gives her a make over, he even notices she's looking great. She gets a little too drunk and hooks up with his friend Scott, they go down to the beach and she's pulling moves on him, he likes her but she is drunk, and thinks if anything happens it should be when she's sober. She slaps him, and what do you know Ethan is standing there watching the whole thing, she takes him home. She tries to get him back but after a while she doesn't even care. She sees Scott again and apologizes, he ends up taking her for a plane ride, and hmm, do they start dating, or does she go back to Ethan?..read the book!

I'm so looking forward to reading 'Next Summer', I'm actually starting that book today and I'll be sure to write a review for that book.

I can honestly say this book was good. But not great. It was enough to keep me entertained and to keep me guessing about who is gonna hook up with who, etc. But it's true that the book is lacking something, and I'm not sure what. It's just not something I'm going to remember forever, and I will probably read the sequel if only to figure out what happens, but after I'm done I will probably put them both at the back of my mind and never think of them again.
But if you are bored or just looking for something fun, this is great.

Summer Boys was the book I read for my outside reading project. It was a very quick read. It is about a group of teenagers that stay in Main over the summer in little cottages on the beach. Most of them are related but not all of them. The main charters are Beth, Jamie, and Ella. Beth is best friends with George and they have known each other for years. She is really athletic and strong. When George meets a girl named Cara at the beach they start dating. Beth gets jealous and all of the sudden she starts to have feelings for George.
Jamie comes to Maine with the feeling that the boy she met last year at the beach and kept in touch with over the year is still her boyfriend. She dreams of days with Ethan and spending endless time together. When she first arrives he tells her he will be leaving two weeks early. She gets more upset and thinks they are growing apart. She loves everything about Ethan and doesn't want them to break up. Her anger drives her too far in and she can't get out.
Ella is the type of girl who goes from guy to guy. She is very beautiful and she knows it. She isn't conceited though. She wears revealing clothing to show off her body. She sees a guy, Peter that she really likes but he falls for her sister, Kelsi. She tries to forget about him but she can't. She thinks he has feelings for her but when things mess up with Kelsi and him, Ella finds herself alone with Peter and she doesn't have her usual confidence. She can barely make small talk. She tries to figure out why she doesn't.
This book will make you want to keep reading. You wonder what's going to happen next. You need to suspect the unsuspected. If you have ever seen the show Laguna Beach on MTV you will love this book. It is slightly inappropriate so I would advise only teenagers read it. Other than that I highly recommend it.

Cousins Ella, Kelsi, Beth, and Jamie couldn't be more different, but this summer at their family's summer home they all have one thing in common: they're ready to hook up with boys. From Ella's crush on her sister Kelsi's boyfriend and Jamie's boyfriend breaking up with her to Beth trying to maintain a long-distance relationship and Kelsi trying to find love again, these books take you through two summers of the girls steamy escapades-- all in the name of love. Easily recognizable and identifiable characters help the book redeem the clichéd plot lines of summer love.
