Winnifred Gardner, engaged to be married in only three short months, is provided a dress rehearsal of sorts when she is asked to be the maid of honor at her best friend's wedding. Winnifred loves her fiancé, Paul, so why is she so attracted to Joseph Duggan, the best man? When Paul leaves the wedding reception early, Winn is left to dance with Joseph, and the attraction between the two is undeniable. As Paul spends more and more time at work rather than with Winn, he doesn't even notice when she begins to question their relationship. Winn is left to deal with the fact that she wants to get married--but to Joseph, not Paul. Harlequin Temptation, the line that helped launch the careers of such authors as Jayne Ann Krentz, Barbara Delinsky, and Judith McNaught, is known for witty, sensuous stories, and Spring Fancy is no exception.

A very entertaining novel, although parts of it were difficult for me to fathom, particularly the reason why Winn continues to stay with Paul, even after beginning her romance with Joseph. However, this scenario makes for a wonderfully angst-filled romance, for those readers who enjoy tortured lovers! Joseph is endearing and a classical "good man" and is therefore easy to fall in love with. Winn is slightly more difficult to support, in my mind, but still inspires sympathy. Recommended for Spencer fans!

Oh how it breaks my heart to give such a low rating to a book by Spencer, but I just couldnt see it any other way. What an AWFUL story. I couldnt stand the characters. First we have Winn. She was so inconsistent and two faced I wanted to slap her. She would encourage the "hero" constantly, only to turn around in a huff 2 seconds later because she just couldnt do that to her fiance...oh, and the "hero", Jo Jo..yes, thats right, Jo Jo..oh my. His name is Only the beginning of his problems. He is decribed as having FEMININE curly hair and he is so annoying and childish I just couldnt take it anymore. Slap these two together and wrap them up in a stupid storyline with the most ridiculous dialogue and you have "Spring Fancy". So, why 2 stars?...Its a Lavyrle Spencer. Only my love for this author kept me from rating it a 1.
