My mother gave me this great book at my wedding shower in 1996. This past Christmas she said that she would like a good soup cookbook like the one she gave me. I looked at many bookstores but in my opinion none of the soup books could compare to the one she gave me. She is just as picky as I am, and I knew no other soup book would do, but I couldn't find it anywhere. Then I saw on Amazon that it was out of print. I could not believe it! Why would the publisher stop printing such a fabulous book? I recommend you get your copy quick, while they last.

I originally purchased this book because it contained a receipe for a good Manhattan Clam Chowder (not so easy to find). Since I made that chowder over a year ago, I have used almost every receipe in the book at various times over the past 12 months. What culinary joy! What edible bliss! Soups and chowders and stews. Full of flavor and fragrance. Feeds a house full of people visiting us at the beach on a sunny Sunday. Best of all are the "shortcuts" and other culinary tips. What a find! I have tried to order the book for friends, but have found out it is no longer in print. The pain! The agony! I can see it is now completely up to me to feed the summer multitudes from it ... lest these recipes be forgotton. I can't wait to start from the beginning again.

I have yet to put this book away since I received it as a gift a couple of years ago. The recipes in this book are remarkably easy but very well received time and time again by guests. I came to Amazon to try to buy books for myself and a friend (that borrowed often) and found it out of print! Oh the horror!
