Filigree is easier than it looks--with help from Silver Threads

* 12 beautiful "you made this?" projects
* Step-by-step instructions and photos introduce the basics and more advanced techniques

For thousands of years, cultures around the world have made filigree: delicate jewelry, decorative objects, even furniture. The intricate curls and twists mislead people into thinking that filigree is difficult to make--but it's much easier than it looks, with help from Silver Threads. This book demystifies the process of creating filigree jewelry. First, basic silverworking techniques are paired with an overview of tools and materials. Then readers learn to make simple filigree shapes, used in 12 stunning projects ranging from simple pendants and earrings to more complex necklaces with gemstone settings. Detailed instructions, illustrations, and full-color photos guide readers through the learning process--and into planning and creating their own unique filigree designs.

This book is great. Hands on, great photos, and talking direct to the reader makes it easy to read and deal with. Very interesting to see that Jeaqnne has lifted the teqnique from our national costume filigree to daily wearable jewellry. As an educated filigree artist for these costumes, this makes me happy.
The true love to stones and creativity, and the intelligent way to attach materials and simple tools makes the book nice to own.
Go get it :-)

I just purchased this one three days ago, and am HOOKED. The fine art of filigree is often overlooked, and this excellent book will keep a dying art alive!
Easy to read, easy to use, GREAT references, great tips, and most important, Jeanne is not afraid to SHARE information that most folks keep 'a professional secret' for fear of competition.
I only wish that the book could have gone on and on!!! Buy this one, even if you've NEVER done filigree work before. You can make a project right from the start, and most importantly, it will LOOK GOOD, which is very encouraging. Well done, Jeanne!

It's easy to make silver filigree jewelry, despite the complex-looking curls and twists of the results - and especially when SILVER THREADS: MAKING WIRE FILIGREE JEWELRY is in hand. Each page is loaded with color photos as it covers production basics, embellishments, variations on themes, and polishing techniques. Sidebars of any special skills needed, such as how to use a solder pick, accompany easy directions for simple projects which encourage amateur jewelry makers. A lovely project guide indeed.
