Book 1.5 in the series Trek Mi Q'an
There is only one person on earth who ever mattered to Geris Jackson and that one person is her best friend Kyra Summers (The Empress' New Clothes). When Kyra is kidnapped, Geris fears nobody will believe her tale about the giants with the glowing blue eyes who snatched her best friend away, so she sets out to find Kyra herself.
Suffering disappointment after disappointment, Geris begins to give up hope. She gets the surprise of a lifetime when one of the giants who stole her best friend hunts her down and claims her for his own.

I watched others w/this book and wondered what was so interesting.
Having read Ms. Black's other work I felt rewarded for reading it.
It's always fun to find new avenues w/in the romance and suspense genres
Now I can add sci/fi to the list.

This is a good story. It's part of the Trek MI Quan series. I think even though it is a good story it wasn't as good as the first story Empress New Clothes. I'm glad that we got to learn more about Geris and Dak.

"Once You Go Dak, You Don't Go Back"....After bursting out laughing when reading this line said by Dak in Jaid Black's "The Empress' New Clothes" I was eager to read "Seized." It's the backstory of King Dak, the blond-haired Nordicesque barbarian alien from another dimension & Geris, the feisty African American woman from New York hurt by love and looking for her abducted friend Kyra. Definitely read the other book first.
I absolutely LOVED these two in "The Empress' New Clothes". In that book the characters and their relationship lept from the pages with Dak, the uber-sensitive hunk with a fierce sense of humor and Geris, who, although tempermental was scared to love. Seized was a real let-down for me. What could've been a great opportunity to showcase these two dynamic characters became just a waste of reading material.
In Seized, Dak returns to Earth to find Geris as he believes she's his "Sacred Mate". After taking her to his ship he explains to her that they are destined for each other and they will be "joined" on his planet Tryston. Before that though they must drop off another alien life form to his planet.
This is where it gets bad....Readers are then introduced to aliens who perform oral sex as a way of "greeting" you and then other aliens who must perform oral sex on Geris because that is how they feed otherwise they will die. When Geris freaks about aliens doing this to her, Dak simply says she must keep keep her legs open, as she wouldn't want them to starve!! Yikes, no wonder she kept punching him in the eye throughout the short story!
It seemed the writer really didn't know what she wanted to do when writing an in-depth story for these two. While some of Geris' reactions where very authentic to the bizarre situations she encountered, other times the character was just grating. It seemed in every paragraph Geris kept saying "Sweet Jesus". If I had a nickle each time she said "Sweet Jesus" I would've gotten this book for FREE!.
I was looking for an erotic/romantic back story with these interesting chacters, but instead got a silly novella about alien creatures who pass gas and perform oral sex. Skip this book, it's too short, there's VERY LITTLE erotica and not worth the $$. I agree with the other reviewers that this should've just been included in "The Empress' New Clothes" or as a supplemental in the back of that book.
