THE BOOK WAS A TYPICAL PATTERSON THRILLER. KEEPS YOU INTERESTED AND YOUR HEART POUNDING. AFTER A FEW OF HIS BOOKS YOU START LOOKING FOR THE ANTI-TYPICAL VILLIAN IN THE FIRST CHAPTER.

I'm a huge James Patterson fan, and I purchased this book without reading any reviews. Oh, what a mistake that was! The writing was choppy, the sentence structure hard to follow, and the story line bland.
This definitely does NOT compare to his later works.

Peter Mcdonald is the only witness in the series of seeming terrorist actions on a Carribian Island. The problem is that Peter saw a white man in what authorities believe is a exclusively black revolution. It turns out that the mafia has started a violent revolution so they could start casino buisnsses up in the Carribian. What? Yeah, that is what I thought when I figured out that is what all the murders were about. That really dose not seem logical in any way what so ever. McDonald is flat, dull, and boring as a hero. Not that Damian and Carrie Rose were anybetter as the two lead killers. The diary entries gave us a look into what life is like from their point of veiw, but I found them to be extreamly vain and self centered; yes, genuine traits of sociopaths, but not engrossing at all. This is an early James Patterson book, and ladies and gentelmen, we are a long way from the later Alex Cross books.

I wish they'd pull this one from the market. I've never heard a soul say anything good about it. It's just out there so Patterson fans will accidentally buy it. DON'T BUY IT!! It is nowhere near the quality of any of his other books! Get ANYTHING else by Patterson and it will be better than this.

If this would have been the first James Patterson book I ever read, it would have been the last (and that would have been a shame!). Too gory (without any real purpose), too many characters (who are very one-dimensional) and too much stuff going. That being said, I did quit reading this book about 1/3 of the way through (which I hardly ever do). Maybe I missed out on the good stuff in the last part of the book, but I really doubt it!
