Now in paperback, the New York Times bestseller by one of rocks most provocative figures Scar Tissue is Anthony Kiediss searingly honest memoir of a life spent in the fast lane. In 1983, four self-described knuckleheads burst out of the mosh-pitted mosaic of the neo-punk rock scene in L.A. with their own unique brand of cosmic hardcore mayhem funk. Over twenty years later, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, against all odds, have become one of the most successful bands in the world. Though the band has gone through many incarnations, Anthony Kiedis, the groups lyricist and dynamic lead singer, has been there for the whole roller-coaster ride. Whether hes recollecting the influence of the beautiful, strong women who have been his muses, or retracing a journey that has included appearances as diverse as a performance before half a million people at Woodstock or an audience of one at the humble compound of the exiled Dalai Lama, Kiedis shares a compelling story about the price of success and excess. Scar Tissue is a story of dedication and debauchery, of intrigue and integrity, of recklessness and redemptiona story that could only have come out of the world of rock.

I like his band but to be honest after reading this I don't particuarly like Keidis as a person, which is surprising because my perception of him before reading this was that he seemed like a nice guy. He really comes off as a backstabbing, thieving, hustler, druggie scumbag. It gets a bit monotomous towards the end but its worth reading if your a Chili Peppers fan.

Wow, what a read! I couldn't put this book down once I started reading it. Anthony Kiedis sure has lived a life, having experienced the highest of highs and lowest of lows. He is very open in this biography, detailing his life from a toddler right up until the band were ready to tour the By the Way album. He tells all on his relationship with girls, his parents and sister. Friends his made over the years and friends he's lost. And is very specific on his tragic addiction to drugs over the years, from an early age. I never knew he had such problems with heroin.
This is a very addictive read, very informative and interesting, the life as lead singer and songwriter for the Red Hot Chili Peppers has sure had a rollercoaster ride of a life. My flatmate who knew nothing about the band and wasn't even a fan found this a very interesting book and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Any fan will definitely love it.
You think you know all there is to know about the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Anthony Kiedes?...Wll you don't know anything til you have read this book. Includes lots of pics as well within its 465 pages.

I couldn't put this book down. I was walking around reading it. What a fascinating life Anthony has led. It is truly amazing that he is alive, he probably should have died at least a dozen times. I am a RHCP fan but you don't have to be one to read this book, you are dragged into the storyline and left wanting more. I think the book should be made into a movie. Great read!

Before I started reading Scar Tissue I was so excited because I had no idea it'd be as good as it was. I thought it'd be completely different, but i had no doubt at all that it would be bad. Reading the book was so fascinating because looking at Anthony Kiedis you would never expect that he went through all the stuff that he did. Yes, most people did know that he did go through a drug problem, but there are so many other stories that are just amazing that I didn't know what to think. I hadn't even heard of any of this stuff happening to other people and it somehow happened to him. It's absolutely amazing that he is still alive after all the stuff that happened. Like how he got his hand shoved into his forarm. THAT WAS AMAZING!! Haha yes, that was horrible, but I honestly have never heard of anything like that happening to someone else. Then when he escaped from rehab and almost did a face plant into the extremely high wall I was in awe. Everything he did was so amazing that I completely admire him. Scar Tissue is my all time favorite book and it always will be.

This book was worth every minute i spent reading it, although the time it came in the mail to the time i finished it was probably only about a week and a half. If you have any interest what-so-everin the Chili Peppers, or Anthony Keidis, buy this book, but be prepared for one hell of a story
