this book is actually quite helpful in getting you familiar with
all the essential jargon encountered in this hobby. it is done in
a non intimidating manner. as for those that criticize the book
for recommending undergravel filters, it doesn't, it states it can be
done, but its old technology. buy this book, WITH!,a comprehensive
salt water aquarium book. after reading both you are ready to play.
more in depth books gave too much info too fast. i took off star
because photos are in black and white.

This was my first experience with the "for dummies" books; I must say I was a litte disappointed. The information was good, but I guess I was just looking for a little more of it. Now that I have started an aquarium, looking back, it seems that some of the areas were really not covered in as much depth as I would have liked.
