I was under the (wrong) impression that this book was going to be large on pics of the RL ranch. I thought it was going to be more of a decorating book. I was so wrong. This book gives a history of Telluride and tons of recipes- so please, if you love the look of RL and want to learn how to get that look- this is NOT the book. Borrow a friend's or go to the library.

I have been a loyal fan of the Ralph Lauren clothing line called "Double RL" or "RRL" since it's debut in 1993...AWESOME vintage western inspired clothing....Now....Why you ask would this have anything to do with this book.....

Well....the RRL clothing line is named for and basically inspired by Ralph's ranch just outside Telluride, Colorado. It is a magical place. I have been there and visited it several times....Early Summer, Fall and Christmas over the years. All visitors are welcome as long as you shut all the gates. It is like stepping back in time to world almost pushed under by the modern urban landscape. Rough hewn cabins, mountain views to die for, cowboys and cattle that look like the 1890's and a feeling that is so peaceful you almost can't find words.

Ricky's new book captures and celebrates this world....Awesome photos (tons) of the ranch itself, the house that Ralph and Ricky live in, the workers, the mountains and recipes (PLEASE NOTE: This book is very heavy on food and recipes) inspired by and used on the ranch....It is sort of a cookbook meets a travel book with a little designer bio thrown in and a dash of ranch history, cooked up all together and served up in hardback on Lauren RRL monogramed plates.

If you have any of Ricky's other books....then you will have a very clear understanding of the style and form in which she presents her works. This is her VERY BEST so far. It is OUTSTANDING. Very personal and done with great detail and love for the ranch and ranch lifestyle she calls "her heaven among heavenly places".

My only complaint (all be it very very minor)is that it is printed on flat paper rather than on high gloss. It givens the photos that flat, grainy appearance.

If you like Ralph Lauren and the Lauren style....This book is another nice addition to your coffee table!!
