The book is an excellent review and the test questions were very similar to the test I took; therefore I felt very comfortable and prepared as I took the test (and did well, 99th percentile overall.) I also recommend Grubers SAT prep for its vocabulary section (if you have the extra money to spend.) Grubers also has a great reading comprehension section. (The math review in it is a little more than what you need for the NLN, but great for people who have been out of school for a while.)

This January I will be entering nursing school and I really think without a doubt the Review Guide for RN PreEntrance Exam helped get me there.

I just got my exam scores back and I got a 118, a composite percent score of 78 for the ADN program section I'm interested in, I'm not completely sure of my school's minimum standard, but the numbers look good to me. This book was helpful in getting me there. It contained very good information and practice questions that were very close in format to the real exam questions on the test. Having said that I say that this book is a valuable TOOL, not an answer book. You have to know the material in advance and then this book will be a great review for you. The formating is orderly and the summaries at each section are great for a brush up of the subject. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to enter the nursing program, it's well organized and worth the money.

I had 9 whole days to study for the NLN test. I had never taken anatomy, physics, microbiology, mechanics, electricity, and Im only half-way through chemistry. I havent had math in 20 years. So I was a bit worried when I got this book and saw how uneducated I was on the science section and how rusty I was on the math. But I read the science section 5 times and took ALL the pactice tests. I also studied every question I got wrong. There really wasn't much I could do to practice for the reading test, but taking the practice tests helped me figure out 'their style' of testing so I was better able to figure the correct answer. The bottom line is, I scored a 151 which is in the 99% - top 1% score in the country - and I couldnt have done it without this book! But just buying it isn't enough - take EVERY test in the book and if you don't know your science, read the science review as many times as you can. When you score your test, go back and find out WHY you got an answer wrong. Tip: dont circle the answers in the book, but write them on a separate piece of paper, so you can go back and take the tests again. The real test was just like the review book. Also, be aware of TIME - I used every minute during the real exam! You need to do each test in the practice book in 45 minutes.
