If you own an old home or are thinking about purchasing one, then I strongly recommend buying this book. It gives many tips on identifying potential problems and then discusses how to fix those problems! It covers a wide variety of topics and includes many color photos. A book that you will probably read cover-to-cover (I'm not a do-it-yourselfer, but now I know what the contractors I hire should/should not be doing to fix problems correctly.) Great reference tool that I anticipate using many times for many years!

I am so glad I read the book after I bought my turn of the century farmhouse. If I read the book before I started renovating the foundation, roof and everything in between I think I would have been scared away. It's a must read book and if you are as passionate about renovating an old house as the author and myself...lol...read the book and go ahead and buy the house!:)
