Bolder than the average terrier, the Rat Terrier has earned the name "Feist" due to his reputation as a fearless, tenacious hunter. His proud owners know that he is also a devoted friend and companion, fiercely devoted to all in his home, including children, other dogs and even cats. For such a small dog, the Rat Terrier is a muscular, active dog, capable of a day's work on the farm and able to keep up with the most energetic of owners, always delighted to be included in the family's activities.
This Special Limited Edition is the only book of its kind dedicated to this remarkable terrier, a comprehensive, colorful guide that covers the breed's development in Britain and rise to fame in America, characteristics and breed standard. Author Alice J. Kane also discusses the health care, obedience training, housebreaking and behavior of the breed. Written with both the pet owner and breed fancier in mind, this comprehensive edition promises to be an invaluable resource for all admirers of this charming and lovable pure-bred dog.

I bought both this book and the Linda Hibbard book. I could have just purchased this one because I think it is the best of the two. It covers everything! A very comprehensive book for me.I am an experienced mother of 4 kids, but I have never had a dog before,so I needed to know everything! I re-read parts of it all the time to help me be a good mommy to my rat terrier puppy. It has everything from the History of the rat terrier to training and behavior and vaccinations and everyday care. The training section has been particularly helpful.
