I just used this book to study for and pass the pediatric rehab boards. It is an outstanding summary of Molnar's Pediatric Rehab text since the Cuccurrulo pediatric chapter summary is written by Molnar's co-author Alexander. The peds rehab chapter is required reading for my rehab residents on their pediatric rehab clerkship. It is nice to finally have some well-organized comprehensive review books out there.

I did not take the written exam in the typical manner secondary to childbearing and scheduling delays. Needless to say, my clinical exposure to many of the tested areas was limited since completion of residency. Consequently, I found it necessary to review and study prior to the exam. I found this book helpful in structuring my study time. It's subject contect was also complete. If there was an area in which the review book did not make since to me, I merely supplemented with standard tests. Otherwise, the review book was a sufficient resource for preparation. I would highly recommend it as I believe that I partly owe my passing score to the authors!

I found this book helpful studying for boards. It is a very large field to cover and the author stresses board relevant material with an "open book" icon next to them.
Unlike the previous reviewer, I don't think $150 is a bargain for a soft cover book. I would try to buy one used or get one from a graduated resident. Once you pass your boards you probably will never use this book.
I don't know what the previous reviewer means by a "real board review course" for orals. It would be better to have a study group and learn actively by going over topics orally rather than sitting through lectures and learning passively.

First of all, this book is only $150 which in the grand scheme is nothing. Second, it is a board review book, not a complete reference for the whole specialty. Some sections are better than others, but overall I found the information very high yield for the boards, especially the highlighted points - which are highlighted cause they're high yield for the boards! I PASSED USING THIS BOOK EXCLUSIVELY!! Realize that 90% of 1st takers pass this exam (Hey, I found that statistic in Cuccurullo) so for most this test won't be something to get an ulcer over. I haven't taken the board review courses yet so can't compare it to that, but given the money you pay for the course and the hotel, this is a bargain since you can be almost certain to pass the test if you know the content of this book. Also, you can buy it earlier in residency and use it as a quick read before starting rotations. I'm thinking about taking a real board review course for the orals which I'm expecting to be more difficult. Overall, this is a completely adaquate resource given the difficulty of the exam and the high pass rate. These guys giving it a one star need to take a chill pill. Oh yeah, why give this book a bad rating and then attach your real name to the review? Almost certainly won't make a difference, but then again rehab is a small field where a lot of people know each other, so you never know....

Haven't had much time to use it but so far looks good. I think it would be helpful for PGY 2 & 3s as well for overviews of topics and to get an idea of what you are supposed to know.
