For the thousands of people who know nothing about wine and want to rectify that swiftly and painlessly, Mark Oldman—the “Naked Chef” of wine—is here to help with the kind of information readers can use right now:
• Australian Shiraz is the most instantly likable red under $15
• Drink slightly sweet wine with spicy food
• Judge a wine shop by whether it has homemade shelf signs
• Don't store unopened wine in the refrigerator for more than a week

Loaded with his personal recommendations—including the top 100 wines less than $15—Oldman's Guide also includes the wine picks of an eclectic mix of collectors, from Le Cirque owner Sirio Maccioni to Morley Safer of 60 Minutes. This is a wine guide like no other and is sure to be savored by anyone who wants their wine without the attitude.

It's simple: If you know very little about wine, and want to know more so you don't look like a moron in the company of so-called wine experts, or even if you consider yourself an intermediate wine lover, you will benefit from the knowledge that is contained in this guide. Mark Oldman is a fantastic writer, and the way in which the book is laid out is great, and very user friendly. No pretension, easy pronunciation guides, and Oldman's own recommendations make this guide a MUST HAVE for anyone who wants to know all that you need to know about wine.

While other wine books are informative - they can often seem patrician and preachy.

Mark Oldman doesn't "hide the ball" when it comes to providing advice on wine. He is on your side and helps to inform and educate without the lecture.

Through his great breadth and depth of wine knowledge, humor and wit, you'll enjoy every page.

His volume is an indispensable resource for helping you mix and match wines with the foods that bring out the best in both.

Highly recommend.

I bought this book two weeks ago, and have been amazing my husband and friends with my wine picks! I'm having the most fun buying gruner veltiners and malbecs, and being able to order fab wines for corporate events. This book will de-mystify the world of wine for anyone. You can read from front to back or skip around and still get a nice "insider" education on wine. Mark Oldman has a great sense of humor, which makes this a fun read. This book is helping a raw beginner like me sound pretty darn knowledgeable. I'm buying and drinking the best wine of my life thanks to Mr. Oldman- cheers!
