Maniac Magee is a folk story about a boy, a very excitable boy. One that can outrun dogs, hit a home run off the best pitcher in the neighborhood, tie a knot no one can undo. "Kid's gotta be a maniac," is what the folks in Two Mills say. It's also the story of how this boy, Jeffrey Lionel "Maniac" Magee, confronts racism in a small town, tries to find a home where there is none and attempts to soothe tensions between rival factions on the tough side of town. Presented as a folk tale, it's the stuff of storytelling. "The history of a kid," says Jerry Spinelli, "is one part fact, two parts legend, and three parts snowball." And for this kid, four parts of fun. Maniac Magee won the 1991 Newbery Medal.

Maniac Magee was one of the best books I have ever read. It was about a boy named jeoffery lionel Magee (Maniac) who's parents died in a train accident. After that he stayed with his aunt and uncle who were constently
fighting, so he ran away. He ran all the way to the east side of the town two Mills where the black people lived. He met a girl named Amanda Beale.
He ended up living on with the Beale family.People didn't like him because he was white, so he ran away.Where he met a man named Grayson, after he died maniac ran away from there.He stayed with two more families.
It ends very happy you need to read the book to find out what happenes next!

Maniac Magee is about a boy named Jeffery Lionel Magee and his parents have past away when he was only 4 years old. So he lived with his Aunt Dot and uncle Dan. But then he has runaway during a school musical because he was sick of them yelling. So while he was running away he walked all the way back to his old house. Then he met Amanda Beale. She was a nice and smart girl. She has given him a book to borrow. When he gave the book back to her her parents found out he has no house or family. So they let him stay with them. One day maniac thought that he has made a problem because everybody was writing on the Beale's house so he ran away. Later on he has met a man named Earl Grayson. Earl Grayson was very kind. He let jeffery stay with him. They spent lots of time together. Christmas and Thanksgiving were very good. But one day jeffery woke up and Graysong has past away. Maniac was so sad. Later on he had no where to go so he stayed at a buffalo farm. One day his enemy, Mars Bar went their because he found out that's where maniac stays and finally he gave maniac a chance to be his friend. Right after that he was still their just sitting with maniac untill Amanda came. When she came she said I don't care what you do you're gonna come home with me! So then they all went walking home just the three friends.
