Love Mode 4 (Yaoi) (Love Mode)

As if life hasn't been hard enough for young Naoya, a secret from his past is surfacing that could unravel everything he's built up in his new life with Reiji. What really happened the night his parents died? This volume of Love Mode also features more hot scenes with Takamiya and Izumi after the two join Reiji and Naoya on a double date. And what's this? Submissive Izumi is taking charge in bed for a change?!

Ah...Each time I read a vol of Kizuna, Embracing Love or Love Mode, I cannot make up my mind as to which one is my no. 1 favorite Yaoi series. I read Kizuna Vol 6 yesterday and decided Kizuna is top but after Love Mode 4 today, I have to say all 3 series have to share the no. 1 spot on my list. I am hooked so bad that I will have any vol of these 3 series when released, shipped by priority courier since I cannot get it in my home country. Yes I do pay a hefty price to Amazon for these 3 series but it is well worth it!
Back to Love Mode 4. What can I say ? I love this series when it concentrates on the most endearing couple, Reiji and Naoya. The first part of the story deals with Naoya's heart wrenching past and his guardian's role in it. Reiji, a pillar of strength, is of course there to give Naoya the care and love to overcome his past. In vol 4 this talented mangaka teases us with their so called "intimate" moments, which are actually quite innocent actions not meant to be romantic or hot. Their "kiss", Reiji is so caring and tender here, and Naoya sucking Reiji's finger (really cute) is just so well expressed and touching.
And let's not forget Kiichi, who is always there to help his younger brother secure the love of his life. I just like the way those around Reiji tease him about the little lost kitten (Naoya) whom he has adopted into his life.
The second part is a double date, purely by accident, for our 2 main couples, Reiji & Naoya and Takumiya & Izume. Here again we see the strong love Reiji and Naoya bear for one another but which they have yet to express or consummate. Yes, we will have to wait until Vol 5.
In Vol 4, the sex is provided by Takumiya and Izume. Finally, Izume says the 3 words.
I hope somewhere in this series there is a story between Kiichi (the "Queen" of the Aoe household) and his lover, Haruomi (the Aoe housekeeper who is a solid presence beside Kiichi in this vol).
There is also a separate bonus short story which Shimizu reveals is her much earlier work. It may be short but once again we are treated to how well this mangaka expresses an emotional and poignant relationship.
Now to wait patiently for Vol 5, out in March, which I know "Blu" will not delay, unlike the frustrating publisher of Kizuna and Embracing Love, who loves to delay month after month.
