Aislinn Hennessy's love life was almost laughable, with a trail of disastrous relationships to show for it. She long ago gave up thinking a knight in shining armor was going to sweep her off her feet, but then she never expected to run him off the road either. Sir Dougray Fitzpatrick, Lord of Dunhaven already buried one wife and had no wish for another, but it was foreseen that he would go to the future to seek a vision, a crucial venture to secure his future born. Only he hadn't bargained on it being a woman that would insist on battling against him at every turn. Dougray finds that Aislinn is fearless in the face of an enemy, but shies away from what her heart holds true. Aislinn discovers that Dougray is honest and brave to a fault. He would die for her if necessary. They were thrown together by a twist of fate, a magical mist that sends them back to sixteenth century Ireland where conspiracies, feuds and unexpected violence are commonplace threats, but along the way, they discover a few surprises that neither one expects: a chance for love even when they're Lost in the Mist of Time.

In this modern day fairy tale, Karen Michelle Nutt entrances her readers to enter into her latest novel entitled Lost in the Mist of Time. First we meet Aislinn Hennessy, an independent, intelligent, beautiful woman. She is romance writer who loves writing romance tales but can never seem to find a real one. Her past relationships failed horribly and nothing appears to be changing until she reaches the mist.
While driving she hits a stranger. Someone who appears to be from another century; the sixteenth century to be exact. Sir Dougray Fitzpatrick, Lord of Dunhaven's history not much brighter than Aislinn's, encounters each other with much suspicion. However, they are destined to meet. Sir Fitzpatrick, a widow, was told by a psychic he would meet a traveler who would help him set the future right.
Through their fights, turbulent battles, sometimes, humorous trickeries, and always wild adventures, Dougray discovers Aislinn to be a woman of great strength, heart, and love. Aislinn finds Dougray as a man of courage, bravery, and honor. Their beautifully told story keeps readers in constant suspense.
Nutt is an excellent storyteller with a knack for pace, rhythm and description. She conveys the story without giving away too much too soon with artistic grace. Lost in the Mist of Time is precisely where the readers will find themselves as soon as they turn the first page. It is truly a thrilling read.

Author Karen Nutt has a talent for story telling. Lost in the Mist of Time captures the reader from the first chapter and holds you until the end. Sixteenth century Ireland was a difficult time for the country and its inhabitants. Can a modern woman survive to win the man she loves? Will her presence change the course of history?
Karen Michelle Nutt lives in California with her family. I look forward to more from this talented author.
Research for this book was extensive. Descriptions of the castle, daily life and the interchange between characters are accurate and vivid. Many actual historical figures entwine with Aislinn and Dougray to present a believable and exciting story. Historical fiction fans are going to love this one! Highly recommended by Shirley Roe, Allbooks Review.
