Innocence and guilt. Light and darkness. Love and hate. Tara McPherson’s paintings and posters are a tour-de-force of creative tension, art informed by the inevitable dualities encountered every day. At once heartfelt and heartbreaking, they create striking juxtapositions that help people see old things in new ways. The images utilize a simple pallet and familiar shapes, forging odd and beguiling images that catch the eye and hold the interest. McPherson focuses on people and the strange things they do, while also recalling many issues from childhood and painful maturity, and the result is images that are thought provoking and seductive. Lonely Heart is the first printed collection of her work, a deluxe hardcover edition featuring her stunning silk-screen posters, illustrations, and fine art.

I finally received my Tara McPherson book a couple months ago and I was not disappointed. I discovered this artist a couple of years ago surfing on line and have been a fan ever since. She really does have a knack for capturing the inevitable dualities encountered in every life and I can not get enough. Innocence and guilt. Light and darkness. Love and hate. C'est la vie!

I have purchased some of her silk screened prints which are displayed throughout my home. I wish I could express myself the way she can. Maybe with some more practice I can at least come close. If you appreciate this type of art, I highly recommend Lonely Heart: The Art of Tara McPherson (Hardback). The book takes you on a progressive journey from line illustration to the final painted product. It's a great book and was worth every penny spent!
