How did pretty, flighty Daisy Devreaux find herself in this fix? She can either go to jail or marry the mystery man her father has chosen for her. Alex Markov, however, has no intention of playing the loving bridegroom to a spoiled little featherhead with champagne tastes. As humorless as he is deadly handsome, he drags the irrepressible Daisy away from her uptown life and sets out to tame her.

Except it won't be as easy as he thinks. This man without a soul has met a woman who's nothing but heart. Will vows spoken in haste shatter . . . or offer the promise of love everlasting?

I really like this book. The characters are great. Daisy is sweet and funny, naive but smart, a bit vain and spoiled, but she showed spunk and bravery in a lot of things. Alex, coming from a dark past, he's a bit cold and mean-spirited to Daisy, but he kind of redeemed himself in the end. The important thing is that they really learned from each other how to be better persons.

I really love the interaction between these two. The funny dialogues are really funny, the sweet and tender moments would make you fall in love with them, and the serious moments are really touching and heartbreaking.

I recommend this book along with my other SEP favorites, First Lady & Dream a Little Dream.

I could not put this book down, it was an amazing story and a fun read. If you like S.E.P. books, you will like this one as much as the rest, if not more.

I was skeptical of this book. I didn't initially like the characters, and thought the plot would be too implausible--plus the only non-customer review is not very good. But I ended up loving it best of all of Susan Elizabeth Phillips' books! Yes, there is an odd twist to this story with the circus and the Romanov connection, but I loved the characters--even when Alex, the hero, was mean-spirited I still adored him once I got to know him a bit better. I loved the characters, at least as much as the other characters of SEP's books. She is always a great writer, and now I'll know not to trust any more non-customer reviews. This one completely takes the cake! I think I'll read it again now...
