Girls in Pants: The Third Summer of the Sisterhood (Sisterhood of Traveling Pants)

Ages 12 and up. Best buds Tibby, Carmen, Lena and Bridget are back with their magical pair of shared jeans in Girls in Pants: The Third Summer of the Sisterhood. Each summer brings new and difficult challenges, as the perennially separated friends discover afresh this last season before college. Tibby struggles with the idea of close friend Brian becoming her boyfriend, and their fragile relationship is soon tested by a tragedy in her immediate family. Carmen doesn't know how to react when she finds out that her middle-aged mom is pregnant, and Bridget is unpleasantly surprised to be reunited with the boy who broke her heart two summers ago. Finally, Lena, still coming to terms with the loss of her first love, tries to convince her strict father that art school is a better career path than Greek restaurant management. But through every crisis, each girl is assured of the love and support of the created sisterhood when she pulls on the denim armor of the cherished, and by now, a bit fragrant ("Rule # 1. You must never wash the Pants.") Traveling Pants.
Full of homey platitudes about life, love and the pursuit of perfect jeans, Girls in Pants occasionally reads like a lengthy Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul entry. But often that's precisely the kind of friendly reassurance female readers are looking for, and fans of the wildly popular series who've journeyed every summer with the "Septembers" will find much to laugh and cry about in this volume. --Jennifer Hubert

This book is really awesome. It deals with stuff every girl goes through:
1.) a friend becoming more (Tibby)
2.) doing something your parents don't like (Lena)
3.) feeling left out when a new sibling comes (Carmen)
4.) rekindling old flames (Bridget)
Seriously, this book rocks. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because of the writing style. I think Ann Brashares' writing style is somewhat flawed. I love the ideas and everything incorporated within the stories, but I couldn't get over the weird structure a good bit of the sentences had. I sat there for 20 minutes with one sentence going "what??". And some sentences have grammar problems. (No clue if it was her mistake or her editor's.)
Other than that, great read.

Remember: Pants = Love. Love your pals. Love yourself. This is rule Number 10 in the series The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. I read the third book in the series called Girls in Pants: The Third Summer of the sisterhood. This book is about four girls (Bridget, Carmen, Lena, and Tibby) who share a pair of pants that fit them all, miraculously. This is the third summer in a row that they have all shared the pants. Bridget goes away to soccer camp, Lena stays in Bethesda, Maryland to get a scholarship to an art school, although her father does not want her to go, Carmen stays to help Lena's grandmother, Valia, also she gets a baby sibling, and Tibby stays to work more on filming and watching her siblings. The way that they all share the pants is that they mail them to each other along with a letter telling each other about their summers. The best part of the book is when they all go to a dance and that is the last time they see each other until the end of the summer which is when they need each other the most.
Bridget is the oldest of the four girls and she is very pretty. There was even a 14 year old boy at soccer camp that wanted to marry her. She has long blond hair that flows when she runs in the wind. Bridget is tall and she is very social. When Bridget goes to soccer camp during the summer she is a counselor instead of a camper. She is really excited until she finds out who her partner is for the activities, she becomes a little nervous. Bridget is really good at soccer and she has a lot of friends that she meets through soccer. Bridget is very important in this book because she brings a special quality to the pants. Carmen is the next character, she is short and stubby, but she is very beautiful. She has brown-black hair that goes down to her shoulders. Carmen is very smart and is applying to William's College in Boston, but something and someone changes her mind. Carmen's mother is pregnant and her baby is due soon, find out what Carmen does to help her mom when the baby is coming. Also, Carmen is very nosey and always gets into other people's business. Carmen is very important in this book because she adds spunk to the pants. She has to also baby-sit Lena's grandmother, Valia, who is very crabby. Lena is the next character. She is very beautiful, she has fair skin and shoulder length light brown hair. She is a great artist and is trying to get a scholarship to an art school, she is also very smart. Lena has a job at a restaurant waiting tables and does not like it very much. Lena is important in this book because she adds beauty to the pants. She has to stay home where her best friend Tibby is. Tibby is the next character. She is medium size, and has long black hair, she is pretty. She is into film making and is not very happy staying in Maryland with all her friends. She also gets asked out by a friend and their friendship changes a lot. She is only happy when she is with her friends. Tibby is important in this book because she adds happiness to the pants, sometimes. The pants make magic happen with all four friends.
This was a really good read that I enjoyed a lot. I recommend this book to people who love reading long books and who love realistic fiction. I liked how the author described each character in the book and how she made them come to life. The book is a page turner; every time I had to go somewhere I didn't want to put the book down. This book is part of the series, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. This book deserves a Newberry Honor Medal because it is a great book for everyone.

this was by far my favorite book out of the Traveling Pants series and it kept me wanting to read.
Everything changed so much and their personalitys changed somehwhat ,yet they are still the same funny , daring , sometimes stubborn 4 best friends that i love to read about.
Well written and made for many ages this book kept me interested and addicted to the whole series. They really are relatable and pleasing. worth buying then reading for sure!
You can really picture things happening and really get into the book.
This is such a good teen read filled with love , embarresment , first time crushes , excitement , and tough decisions leaving me recommending it to everyone 12 and up.
