Out of the Ashes of the Holocaust, a Magnificent Novel of Indomitable Courage and Hope

Ellie, a young American photojournalist, finds herself in the Jerusalem of 1947. She unwittingly becomes a pawn in a political chess game when she photographs some ancient scrolls discovered by Bedouins. David seems to love her dearly, but Moshe has a purpose and commitment in life that intrigues her more than she can say. Through it all, Ellie discovers a people, a spirit and a person who profoundly change the direction of her life.

This first book in THE ZION CHRONICLES vividly portrays the intense struggle of the Jewish people in the aftermath of the Holocaust and the forces, within and without, which engulf the Middle East in conflict and controversy even today.

This book and series is fabulous. If you like historical fiction, then you are in for a treat! Along with being very accurate (Bodie's husband, Brock is a historian) it is also very entertaining. You will learn so much as you follow superb characters. Be prepared to have some very late nights as you will be unable to put this book down!
You won't be disappointed!

Please read this book with your preconceptions tucked away out of reach. When a book is this well written, it doesn't matter if it labelled "Christian Fiction" or any other kind. Most everyone has underlying assumptions, and it is best if they are out front. I didn't know this book was "Christian Fiction", whatever that means, until after I finished reading it, and it was a wonderful read no matter what. I don't know if it was totally fair to every point of view, and I doubt if such a thing is really possible. Anyway, Bodie Thoene writes marvellous adventure stories, worth reading for the sheer excitement of it.

This book is truly amazing! I'm not completely finished with it yet, but so far it is one of the best books I have ever read. I have been searching so long for Christian books with lots of adventure and history and without a bunch of mooshy romance stuff. When my friend told me about this book, I thought I'd give it a try. I never expected to come across something this great! It fits what I want in a book so perfectly. I love learning about Jerusalem!!!!!!!! The only falt I can find with in it, is it's characters. They don't seem to be developed too well. I would like more insight on what they're thinking, etc... Other than that, this is a wonderful book. If you like history, then you will love this!!!
