In the tradition of the best-selling Monet's Table, Frida's Fiestas is a personal account in words and pictures of many important and happy events in the life of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, and a scrapbook, assembled by her stepdaughter, of recipes for more than 100 dishes that Frida served to family and friends with her characteristic enthusiasm for all the pleasures of life.Full-color photographs.

I ordered this book to give away as a door prize. When it arrived, I glanced through it, but was so captivated that I sat down and read through the entire book immediately (even though I had/have no plans to ever cook any of the food) -- it was a fascinating glimpse into the life and times of Frida, Diego and others. Then I ordered three more to give as gifts to friends.

I'm a huge Frida Kahlo fan, and this is much more than a mere recipe book. While Hayden Herrera's biography gave us the flavor of Frida's life, Frida's Fiestas gives us the flavor of her kitchen, bringing those of us who wish to know more about the artist and the woman just a little bit closer to sharing and understanding her life. Frida celebrated life to it's fullest; her favorite recipes and the artistic way they are presented on the pages of this book are a celebration as well. Viva la Vida!
