As a novice horse owner with no background in horsemanship, I found this book to be an excellent training guide for my mini. Some of the descriptions are difficult to understand -- possibly a result of the translation, and the book is written in a difficult but elegant writing style.
I began using the techniques from this book and saw immediate results. This is a practical teaching guide -- both eloquent and effective. And the photographs are beautiful and instructive.
The techniques in this book work well with the philosophical teachings of the McCormicks (i.e. "Horses and the Mystical Path") and those who are inclined toward Celtic spirituality will find the European training style of Klaus' to be a perfect match.

This book has changed the way I interact with and ride my horse. It is dressage (although he says it isnt), but unlike any other dressage book you will find. I have many classical dressage books, and this is one of my favourites. His groundwork system has worked wonders on my nervous mare. Beware though, it might take you a few reads before you absorb it all, because at first the methods seem a little hard to grasp. My horse has been much happier since I have taken his approach to working with her. As Klaus says: it must be fun and it must be beautiful, otherwise whats the point!

A simply superb book, written in - I think - a much more attractive style than the majority of horse training books. At no point does Hempfling speak down to the reader - although he states his views, and the reasoning behind them, without any hesitation, and this might offend some readers who lack in open-mindedness and insight.
This book is definitely "different" to the usual run of training books and as such will not appeal to some. As an educated horsewoman of over 50 years experience, though, this is one of the best of the non-traditional books that I have read, and I feel I have learned a great deal from it and had many ideas and inklings confirmed by it.
