Complete Arcane: A Player's Guide to Arcane Magic for all Classes (Dungeons & Dragons Supplement) this question feed

A new sourcebook outlining the use of arcane magic by any D&D character.
Complete Arcane provides Dungeons & Dragons© players with an in-depth look at how to access traditional arcane magic and use that power to a character's advantage. It explains how magic affects life and gameplay in the D&D world, adding dimension to one of the most unique and popular aspects of roleplaying. Complete Arcane also contains a wealth of material for traditionally non-magical characters, so the tips and data provided will assist all class types. In addition to new feats, spells, prestige classes, and magic items, this title adds new and revised core classes to a player's character choices. There are also new arcane-related monsters and information on how to fight, join, or summon each one.

I know many will disagree with me, but this is simply my reaction as a player.
I loved Complete Warrior, but as I am more likely to play a mage type character, I picked this book up. I am quite dissapointed. There isn't a single Prestigue Class or Feat I find useful for my characters. I understand that each player has his or her own style of play, but it seems my style isn't suited for Complete Arcane. Also I find the art abominable. Yes, the artists are much more talented than I, but I simply don't enjoy the art they produce. Really, this book was a disapointment, because when I shell out over $20 on a new splat book, I feel like I should be getting my money's worth.

I first have to say that I was impressed with the book. Lately I have been finding that Wizards has been publishing some books which have been pretty moderate in quality. Secondly for the reduced price that you pay for the book on Amazon rather then buying it in the store makes it worthwhile. Though the book is filled with helpful aswell as new information, its not worth the cover price. It does offer some very unique character classes such as the Warlock and Warmage. Both very unique and useful. Lastly if you play alot of arcane catsers and are looking for something to give you a bit of an edge as well as a very decent read this book is worth it.

Complete Arcane is a great supplement book to your collection. There are a bunch of new prestige classes, three new core classes, and a lot of new feats and spells. If you play as a wizard/sorcerer, you will want to get this book.

The core classes give more offense to the basic spellcasters. With a class described as "artillary" (the Warmage, if I remember right), you imeddiately get the idea.

The prestige classes are pretty good too. My personal favorite was the Elemental Savant. Some of the people I played with decided to specialize in one element (fire), but that's as far as it went. With the Elemental Savant, you can get a lot more skills towards your elemental specialty.

As for the feats, sorcerer classes definitely want to look at this. There are a lot of feats that bring you draconic powers, such as flight, claws, and defense.

I would reccomend this book if you play as a spellcaster (or want to).
