The social minefields most privileged middle-school girls drive the over-the-top drama in this addictive new book, set in suburban New York City's Westchester County. Massie Block: With her glossy brunette bob and Whitestrip smile, Massie is the uncontested ruler of The Clique and the rest of the social scene at Octavian Country Day, an exclusive private school in Westchester, New York. Dylan Marvil: Massie's second in command who divides her time between sucking up to Massie and sucking down Atkins shakes to try to get rid of the extra fifteen pounds that won't seem to leave her hips alone. Alicia Rivera: As sneaky as she is beautiful, Alicia floats easily under adult radar because she seems so 'sweet.' Would love to take Massie's throne one day. Just might do it. Kristen Gregory: She's been dying to fit in ever since her parents went broke. She's smart, hardworking and will insult you to tears faster than you can say 'scholarship kid.' And then there's Claire Lyons, the new girl in two-year old GAP overalls from Florida, who is clearly not Clique material. The only problem is that Claire's family is staying in the guest house on the Blocks' massive estate while they look for a new home! Claire's future looks worse than a bad Prada knockoff. But with a little luck and a lot of scheming, Claire might just come up smelling like Chanel Mademoiselle....

I've read all the series in The Clique. During book 1,2, and 3, I totally loved it. I read books 4, 5, and 6. But then I read the A-List series by Zoey Dean and I noticed how similar the stuff in Clique was to the stuff in A-LIst.

Like in Book 1, the plot was pretty similar.

In Clique: New girl, blond, from different state, doesn't fit in, hated by the most popular girl
In A-List: new girl, blond, from different state, doesn't exactly fit in, hated by the popular girls

Even the characers are kind of the same.
In Clique: There's Massie. Totally beautiful, boys drool over her, schemes, is mean, but has her insecurities
In A-List: There's Cammie. Totally gorgeous, boys DROOL over her, she's mean, snotty, and shallow but also has her insecurities

In Clique: There's Dylan. Has a famous parent and is OBSESSED about her body and weight. Also funny and sometimes obnoxious.
In A-List: There's Sam. Also has a famous parent and is also WAY OBSESSED about her body and weight. Also funny.

In Clique: There's the New Girl Claire, who's new, blond and doesn't fit in too well.
In A-List: There's New Girl Anna, who's (duh) new, blond, and also doesn't fit in as well.

Do you see what I mean? As you keep reading, you'll also see that there are more similarities.

So, my question: is Lisi Harrison a Zoey Dean wannabe? Are they the same person? Are they friends?

And since Zoey Dean's book did come out first, did Lisi read it and come up with a similar idea?

I still kind of like the story, so 4 stars

The Clique is a series I've loved since fifth grade. When the 6th book game I was beyond excited after the cliff-hanging ending in the previous book. I was disapointed to find how unrealistic this story seems compared to the others. This type of stuff does not happen randomly. I recommend Gossip Girl over this series any day. Gossip Girl is addicting and very realistic.

When I first picked up THE CLIQUE, I automatically thought it was going to be a great book. I feel like Lisi Harrison can understand a teenager and their issues. What I enjoyed about this book is that I could always realate to it, and I am sure that every (pre)teenager can relate to it as well. The book is mainly about a new girl fitting in. Massie and her friends are all wealthy, (until later on...)Massie is the leader and she doesn't like Claire because she just doesn't fit in. Throughout the book, The "Clique" group gossip and tell eachother secrets, as for Claire...she's just trying to fit in and make new friends! Not the BEST book ever so... 4 stars!!!!!
