I just took the CLEP exam, and passed with a 63 (50 is usually the minimum). I hate biology, still hate it, and will always hate it (some of the reason I took the CLEP). But I truly believe that a person with no experience in Biology (the spot I found myself in before taking the test) can spend a month with this book and pass the test. The practice tests they provide are a tad easy, but it will give you confidence before your test. If you can afford an official Biology CLEP test, get that from the CollegeBoard. But definitely use this book to study.

I didn't follow the timelines they give in the book for studying. I only gave myself about a week to get through it. I especially liked the practice tests on the CD. They gave me a much better feel of the actual test than the paper answer sheets you get in other books. I didn't study anything else and got a 72 so I'm now a big fan of the REA CLEP series.

I passed the CLEP biology on 6/26/06 with a 65. My husband got a 70. You need to really know what's in the book because about 1/3 of what I found on the exam wasn't covered in this book. I read the book twice, took the 3 exams, did some extra study (memorization of things like stages of meiosis and DNA replication), and took the test in 4 days. WOW! Am I pleased!

Now I'm signed up for bio lab-2 week session. I also plan to CLEP psychology, sociology and English!
