More than just a Board review for USMLE Steps 2 and 3, Blueprints Pediatrics, Fourth Edition can help you during clerkship rotations and subinternship. This popular Blueprints book has been refined and updated while keeping its concise, organized style, clinical high-yield content, and student-friendly features. This edition includes a new adolescent medicine chapter, new guidelines regarding the febrile infant and urinary tract infections, an updated cardiology chapter reflecting current USMLE requirements, expanded coverage of aberrant development and developmental delay, and completely revamped oncology and infectious disease chapters. The authors' dual backgrounds in academic medicine and private practice ensure timely coverage of emerging research and its clinical implications.

I didn't use this book during my pediatric clerkship..I think it is not deatailed enough for new beginners..but it is fairly enough for USMLE STEP2 CK..If you are confused about what to read for pediatrics for USMLE STEP 2 CK, you can definitely pick this book..

very disappointed in this blueprints. Med & ObGyn had the right level of detail; this one doesn't.

I'm sorry, but this book was not adequate for my shelf exam. It failed to explain concepts adequately and it was far too abbreviated. I suspect it's fine if you do ample supplemental reading, but in general, I would not rely on this book as a sole source for studying pediatrics. I made a review sheet that was more informative than this book.

This book is fairly comprehensive and will cover just about everything you will need for the shelf exam at the end of the peds clinical rotation in medical school and for usmle step 2. It is by far one of the best in the Blueprints series. The only other book I used was the "Peditatric Pearls" book which I read and carried with me because of its compact size.
Harriet Lane is not necessary for medical students..more appropriate for residents in pediatrics or those who definitely want to go into pediatrics and doing 4th year electives/acting internships.

This was the first Blueprints i'd used, and i was very impressed. I went through several sections a couple of times over the course of the clerkship and reinforced with pre-test at the end. Covers most topics you need to know without getting verbose. You do need to revisit some topics otherwise you spend so little time reading the subject matter it doesnt stay with you.
