From the New York Times bestseller Bertrice Small-first in an exhilarating new historical romance series Adair Radcliffe is only a child when her family perishes in the War of the Roses, so her real father, the womanizing King Edward IV, takes her in, honoring his promise to her mother. Once Adair turns sixteen, the king marries her off without her knowledge-and to her later outrage- in a wedding by proxy. But when tragedy leaves her a widow twice over, Adair realizes that her already tenuous social position has sunk even lower. Now, all she can do is hope that the Scottish laird to whom she is sold will have mercy on her. But little does master or servant suspect that love knows no rank.

As always, Bertrice has given me just the book I was hoping for. Her Scottish adventures, which weave in characters from her other books, compel me to read the entire book before doing anything else! To the people who criticize, try writing even one book people will buy. To my favorite author, stay true to your own writing style and beloved adventures, and your true fans will always love them.

I am a big fan of Bertrice Small's books. Love Wild and Fair, The Kadin and The Skye O'Malley series are all excellent. However, in recent years she has not delivered anything even close to her older titles.
With this being said, I cannot say anything good about this book. If you must read it get it at you local library and don't waste you money on it.
But do read her older titles, they are wonderful!!
