1,000 Greetings: Creative Correspondence Designed for All Occasions (1,000 Series) this question feed

With designers constantly working for clients and having a limited amount of freedom in much of their work, the chance to strike out on their own and do something truly original and personal is a real luxury. The cards included represent some of the most creative design available so are a wonderful source of inspiration for all types of projects. All designers and design firms, whether in-house or freelance, create their own greeting cards which serve not only as a greeting card, but as an opportunity to show off their work in a totally unique and uninhibited light. In addition, they are the perfect project because they are small enough so they are not incredibly time consuming nor are they very expensive to produce, even with unique materials or treatments.

Yes, we can all use some inspiration and this one hits the spot. With this many examples, there is at least one that will inspire you. I agree with many of the previous comments about the book. I'd only like to add that what I take from this book is that keeping it simple still works best. Many great ideas are suprisingly often formed and created by using few words, pictures and colors. I especially love the birth announcement by Vinas Design (0425) on page 122 and Rick Rawlings printed feather on page 128. Love the FedEX envelope wedding invitation on page 216 and there are many more that make me smile and keep me inspired. A truly great book, weather you keep it on the coffee table, as a reference close by or as part of your library.

It is a big book with a great collection of designs. It will definitely inspire you to find new way of expressing yourself as a designer. There is truly something for everyone. There is a big emphasis on Christmas and rightly so, since this is the most popular occasion for sending greeting cards.

Many of the examples in this extensive book were created for the designer's personal use, not for a client. When a designer must answer to no one, incredible creativity is often the happy result. No committees to ruin the mood, no visual illiterates to kill the design before it gets into the light of the outside world.

I actually couldn't care less that this is a collection of greetings. What is truly important is the quality of the work in this book. There's an abundance of hot ideas and beautiful executions that any graphic designer would appreciate having...as a valuable swipe file.

This could be your secret weapon. Keep it between you and me and whoever else you tell.

The reason a designer would buy this book is why a designer buys any book with sample designs - to give some new and fresh ideas and or get you out of a creative rut.

I don't design many invitations or correspondence, but when I have the chance to, you better believe that I use this book for referance. It can be used for referance just from a layout and typography element. Again, if your looking for a creative injection, this is a good book to own.
